(COLUMBUS, OH) April 24, 2018—The Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) has joined Ohio Business Competes, adding its name to a growing list of organizations partnering to build a strong, future workforce.
Ohio Business Competes is a nonpartisan coalition that brings together businesses committed to achieving LGBTQ-inclusive nondiscrimination policies at the state level to attract from the widest possible talent pool to grow Ohio’s economy.
OSCPA recognizes that America’s demographics are shifting, and is working within the accounting profession to encourage more organizations to elevate conversations and policies around diversity and inclusion.
The professional association that represents 27,000 members also is officially supporting House Bill 160, which seeks to expand Ohio’s civil rights laws to provide legal protections for gender identity or expression and sexual orientation. The bill is currently before the House Government Accountability and Oversight Committee.
OSCPA’s own diversity and inclusion strategy focuses in three key areas: building the Society’s acumen in diversity and inclusion while expanding programs that recruit more underrepresented students to accounting careers. OSCPA also is creating a forum of leaders in the profession who can share and create resources that employers will use to advance their own efforts in this area.
